Used Pontoon Boats - Discover Boating Magazine

Hi gang, Rick Ostler here from North American Waterway bringing you Used Pontoon Boats along with news and views from the boating industry. With the support of the Discover Boating Board, the NMMA Canada has extended an offer to Kerrwil Publications to become their official partner in the production of the 2009 Discover Boating magazine.

The Discover Boating managers cited the strategic thinking that went into the Kerrwil proposal and they expressed that the Discover Boating board felt that this will prove to be a mutually beneficial partnership.

The Discover Boating organization has drafted an agreement formalizing the relationship giving the greenlight to Kerrwil Publications to proceed with the magazine's design and editorial line-up.

The Canadian Discover Boating advertising campaign wrapped up its 2008 activities in May and the results to date have been solid, surely playing a role in the relative strength seen in the Canadian marine market this season.

Research indicates that the Discover Boating brand is gaining traction with its target audience of prospective first-time boat buyers.  A pre-campaign brand awareness survey in Canada showed 18 percent of non-boaters indicated they were aware of the campaign, regardless of interest in boat ownership (up from just nine percent in 2007), while 50 percent of interested future boat buyers claimed to be aware of it (up from 25 percent in 2007).

Visits to DiscoverBoating.ca have markedly improved.  Consumer requests for the "Get Started in Boating" DVD have nearly doubled since 2007, with 4,700 DVD requests in 2008 (compared to 2,500 last year).  The opt-in rate across all sources of DVD orders is more than 24 percent, indicating qualified, prospective buyers want to hear directly from boat manufacturers and dealers.

The Discover Boating magazine is to be a critical component of the 2009 campaign and the agreement with Kerrwil Publications requires the production, printing and delivery of 150,000 magazines.

These will be a primary resource and follow through tool for the numerous Discover Boating events and boat show exhibits that will be executed during the coming season.

With much of the distribution being to people visiting the Discover Boating boat show exhibits, a large circulation to well briefed, qualified,  potential buyers will be certain.
